MARY ELIZABETH WICKLIFF,

affectionately known as Mama Wick, born May 6, 1921, in Martinsville, Virginia, went peacefully to be with the Lord on April 13, 2004, at the age of 82, after a short illness. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Chaney Prillaman; her sister Doris P. Walton; her brother, Clarence Prillaman; and son, Bruce H. Wickliff Mary is survived by her husband, Aloysius M. Wickliff Sr.; and children: daughter Cheryl M. Wickliff and sons, Marty Wickliff and wife Sue; Greg Wickliff and wife Judy; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Mary worked in the Houston Independent School District for 37 years as an English teacher at Phyllis Wheatley High School and later as a librarian at Hartman Middle School. Mary's favorite pastime was music, and she will be remembered for five decades of playing the organ on Sundays at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church of Houston. Visitation will be Thursday. April 15, 2004, between the hours of 6 PM and 8:30 PM at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, 4000 Sumpter, Houston. The funeral mass will be held on Friday, April 16, 2004, 11 AM at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church. Final resting place will be at Houston Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 16000 Cullen Boulevard, following mass.
