Retta Jean Elam Bravo went to be with the Lord on August 17, 2016. She is preceded in death by her Mother, Lucille Black Elam and Father, John Elam. She is survived by her son Adam Bravo, Brother Coy Elam and his wife Marcie Elam, Niece Shelby Kerr and husband Ryan Kerr and their son Dakota Kerr, Nephew Derek Ludeke and his daughter Kaya Ludeke.
Born on December 1, 1955, Retta attended Waltrip High School and the University of Houston. She spent many years dedicating her passion to caring for animals at the family-owned Horlock Kennels. In her later years, she devoted her life to Small Steps Nurturing Center where she worked for almost 20 years in early childhood education and outreach. She has made a significant impact on many children and families at Small Steps and she will be dearly missed. She always was eager to give all she had, help any family in need, or rescue any animal.
Services will be public and held at Impact Church, 1704 Weber Street, Houston Texas at 11 am on Saturday, August 27, 2016. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting a donation be made to Small Steps Nurturing Center, 1709 Depelchin Street, Houston, Texas 77007.
