Obituary for Paula Bideler

Paula Sue Johnson Bideler, a native Texan, died January 16, 2016 surrounded by her family. Paula was a "St. Joseph Hospital Baby", born April 30, 1955 in Houston to parents Paul & Mary Johnson. Paula lived in Houston's East End neighborhood until the family moved in 1963 to Northwest Houston, where she attended Oak Forest Elementary, Frank M Black Jr. High and graduated from Waltrip High School in 1973. Graduated from Massey Business College, earning a Degree in Fashion Merchandising. Her sales career spans over 40 years, beginning as an Associate with Oshman's Sporting Goods Store in downtown Houston where she met her future husband, John Bideler.
Paula had the gift of hospitality. She never met a stranger that didn't become a friend and once a friend, you were a friend for life. There was no one more loyal than Paula. She loved to cook for family and friends and kept up with the political climate of the day. She played the clarinet in junior high and also softball with the Oaks Dad's Club in Oak Forest. As an adult, an avid Houston Rockets and Comets Basketball fan. Paula was plugged in socially, whether with WOVEN Chapter of ABWA, her monthly 'Book Club Ladies' or Waltrip Alumni, she stayed engaged, supporting, serving and mentoring.
Paula is preceded in death by her father, Paul R. Johnson, grandparents, Ed and Gertrude Smith and Patrick and Fannie Johnson. She is survived by her husband John Carl Bideler; daughter Carlie Sue Currer and husband Ryan and their children Jennifer Currer, Thomas Currer and Robert Currer and son, John Benjamin Bideler, Spring TX. Paula is also survived by her mother, Mary Ellen Smith Johnson; sister, Deborah Lynne Cummins, Richmond, TX and brother, Paul Raymond Johnson Jr., Richmond, TX.
